Life and pondering the merits of a NO REFUND CULTURE
Words from nowhere: Squib
Watching the IT Crowd (which is blinking hilarious) and there was a whole gag about mispronouncing a word but being sure that you are saying it correctly. The phrase was ‘like a damp squib’ and the character was sure it was ‘squid’ – which was funny.
I then turned to Chad and asked what actually is a ‘squib’? He didn’t know, so hey presto wikipedia informs me:
A squib is a miniature explosive device used in a wide range of industries, from special effects to military applications. They resemble tiny sticks of dynamite, both in appearance and construction, although with considerably less explosive power.
So there you are! My word from nowhere.
